Powerful Plants

Description

In this lesson, students will investigate how plant biology and knowledge of plant life cycles can inform climate solutions. Students will research and compare the anatomy, physiology, and life cycles of plants used for annual biomass (corn) and perennial biomass (switchgrass, silvergrass, eucalyptus, willow), then analyze the potential of perennial biomass as a solution for emissions reduction. Through structured research and critical analysis, students will understand how scientific knowledge directly applies to solving real-world climate challenges.

Lesson Type: Literacy, Experiential

Duration: Single Class
