Exploring Silvopasture for a Sustainable World

Description

What if farms could look like forests, with trees and livestock working together to create healthier land and fight climate change? Silvopasture is an agricultural practice that combines trees with grazing animals, a system used for thousands of years in many parts of the world and increasingly recognized as a powerful climate solution. In this three-period lesson, students will research silvopasture, understand how it demonstrates the interdependence between people, places, and the environment, design their own silvopasture system, and propose how this practice could be adapted for New Brunswick farms or community land.
