Meeting the Macroalgae

Description

In this lesson, students will explore various macroalgae and their ecological roles in coastal protection, habitat creation, and carbon storage. Students will complete a virtual lab to examine macroalgae specimens from herbarium collections. Through a simulation activity, students will explore how macroalgae degradation releases stored carbon and understand the importance of protecting these valuable carbon sinks.
