Two Hills School

Grade 8 students at Two Hills School in Alberta are tackling emissions and budget efficiency issues by retrofitting the lighting fixtures of 8 classrooms.

A group of grade 8 students at Two Hills School in Alberta are working on a three-pronged plan to support climate action at their school. N:OW for Net-Zero is proud to be supporting phase one of this plan which is focused on retrofitting the lighting fixtures of 8 classrooms. This will not only reduce the school’s emissions substantially, but also contribute to cost savings. The student team researched the most efficient replacements and plan to track energy usage and spending after the installation is completed, with the goal of using their project as a pilot to pitch their school board to fund the retrofitting of their entire school and other schools in the area.

 

People Impact:

15 students worked directly on the project, while engaging the rest of the 215 students and teachers at their school in learning about the lighting retrofit and its impact on emissions reduction!
