Here's a list of some of the organizations we see taking leadership and making a big impact in the climate education and action space. Most of these organizations have resources that are very relevant and helpful for educators and/or students in so-called Canada that are looking to increase climate literacy and climate action in their schools. There's a lot to explore here, and we know lists like this can be very overwhelming! If you are new to exploring climate action and are wondering where to start, or if you're looking for something specific, we'd love to chat with you and provide personal recommendations about resources you should start with. Every year, we receive applications from schools across Canada seeking funding to support emissions reduction projects they want to implement. Many of these schools are implementing their own versions of these common community-based emissions reduction strategies. Here, we've curated simple, beginner-friendly resource guides, packaging up some of the best resources we've found for each of the most popular project ideas we've received.

Accelerating Climate Change Education

Alberta Council for Environmental Education

Alberta

Collaborates to advance environmental education in Alberta. Offers programs like Alberta Youth Leaders for Environmental Education (AYLEE), EcoSchools, and professional development workshops for educators.

Alberta Energy Efficiency Training (Government of Alberta)

Alberta

A PDF guide offering free online energy efficiency training for Albertans, covering topics like home energy audits, efficiency upgrades, and cost-saving strategies for households.

Youth organization that provides tools and programs that educate youth to be active and contributing citizens in Canada's democracy.

Be The Change Earth Alliance

British Columbia

Action-oriented tools and free workshops for facilitators for classrooms looking to take climate action.

Bee City Canada: Bee Schools

National (Canada)

Encourages schools to create pollinator-friendly habitats, educate students and the community about pollinators, and celebrate pollinator-related events. Participation is free and includes benefits like connecting with other Bee Schools, developing outdoor classrooms, and accessing shared resources.

Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley

Alberta

Provides environmental education programs like Future Leaders, offering classroom sessions, field experiences, and resources such as Wildlife EduKits and the "Ways of the Bison" program, integrating Indigenous perspectives.
