Collecting Energy from Wind

Description

In this lesson, students explore how wind energy can be captured and converted into electricity. The lesson begins with a brief review of global wind patterns and the scientific processes that generate wind. Students then examine historical methods humans have used to capture wind energy, before transitioning to modern wind turbine technology. Students will learn how offshore wind farms work, how they compare to traditional onshore wind turbines, and what benefits and challenges are associated with offshore wind energy.
