Tree Storage: The Carbon Cycle

Description

Students will investigate how carbon dioxide is produced, stored, and cycled through ecosystems, examining the critical balance between carbon sources and sinks. Through an interactive game simulating carbon movement through the carbon cycle, students will develop embodied understanding of biogeochemical processes. They will then examine tree plantation on degraded land as a carbon sequestration solution, evaluating its effectiveness, costs, benefits, and challenges.

Lesson Type: Hands-on, Experiential

Duration: Single Class, Multi-Day Lesson

Sector: Carbon Sinks

Region: Rural Areas, Agricultural Regions, Northern Communities
