Meeting the Macroalgae

Description

In this lesson, students will be introduced to various macroalgae and their ecological roles in coastal protection, habitat, and carbon storage. Students will also complete a virtual lab, in which they will examine macroalgae specimens from herbarium collections. Drawing conclusions, students will simulate the effects of the degradation of wild macroalgae as a group, and consider their role in protecting these valuable carbon sinks.
