Description

What if we could strengthen carbon sinks and reduce carbon emissions with a single solution? Meet biochar, a carbon-rich form of biomass. When buried in soil, biochar reduces the amount of carbon released through decomposition while also improving soil quality and fertility. In this lesson, students explore biochar as a climate solution and consider whether it is worth the effort to excavate land in order to bury it. Through structured reading and reflection, students track how their thinking evolves as they engage with new information.

Lesson Type: Literacy

Duration: Single Class

Sector: Carbon Sinks
