From Trash to Treasure

Description

Every year, Canada produces millions of tonnes of waste. But what if that waste could be turned into energy? Waste-to-energy technology captures the energy from burning waste, converting it into electricity and heat while reducing what goes to landfills. In this lesson, students will discover how waste-to-energy works, evaluate its benefits and challenges, and explore whether this technology could help Canada reach net-zero while considering environmental and social impacts.
